Indeed, with perfect timing. Looks like the first one was strobed, which is very interesting given the size of an arena.

Rotary Club night at the National Western Stock Show, we've lived in CO 12 years and have never been to a rodeo, and when my wire's Rotary Club set up transportation and dinner with it we said "Sure!" We didn't know what we were seeing, the announcer did a good job of reviewing the events on the overhead TV and telling us what to watch for. Fun stuff. A couple of shots for now, I may add a few later.

A view of the arena from our 9th row mid-field seats, uncropped:

And my best Man Overboard from where I was sitting, focused on the chain link LOL, also uncropped:

A couple of more from the NWSS. All I took in was my EF 40f2.8, they published a 4" lens length limit and I didn't know what to expect, so I took my version of a point'n'shoot. ISO 6400 and the shutter is still too slow, my 50f1.4 or 100f2 would both have been better choices, these have a bit of cropping.

Terrific shot and beautiful horse and rider both! Not growing up around any of this, it blows my mind that a horse can be competing like this, and the rider is just cool calm and collected wanting him to go faster...and not really hanging on!
