Sold mine. I think it is a fantastic lens esp. on the 6D but I just rarely use that focal length. I'm always
wider or longer. Sold it to a wedding photographer to be, he plans on using it on his 5Diii.

you dont say which version you have, is it the 'L' or the other? I was most unhappy with my 25-105 l until I took the uv filter I was using off. Much better after that. OK I just perused youyr gear list, L it is

Have any of you decided that you do not like the 24-105 after moving to full frame?

I loved the lens on my 60D and got several great shots with it, but I suppose that was only using the centers of the lens. Now that I'm using the 6D, I've noticed the incredible vignetting at the wide end and loss of sharpness at the edges; these are all facets of the lens that I never saw with my 60D.

I bought my 24-105 when I had my 400D and then my 7D. I was quite happy with it but was always reading other owners saying that it was better suited to FF because 24mm wasn't wide enough for a walkround lens on a crop. When I started using it on my (FF) EOS 3 film body, I understood what they meant. The focal range is perfect for a FF walkround lens. It now spends most of its time on my 6D. Yes, it would be nice if it was a little sharper but its still a great lens. I use photoshop to take care of any vignetting in PP.

It isn't so much that I do not like it. It is more a matter of the 24-70 f2.8 II being so much better that I am prepared to give up the little bit of extra reach from 70mm to 105mm for most occasions. I suppose that if I was travelling on an organised tour, I might opt for the 24-105 as a "carry everywhere" lens....... But then again, I might not. The 24-70 f2.8 II is just SO much better! :-)

I would be very interested in seeing examples showing just how it is 'so much better'.

It is a bit difficult to come up with comparative examples as I very seldom (if ever) carry the two lenses together. And my 24-105 might be a bad example and my 24-70 could be a good example. I only have my two lenses with which I can experiment.

However, I do notice that images from the 24-70 appear to be a lot sharper, especially around the edges, where I find the 24-105 to be a bit soft. Yes the 24-70 doesn't have an image stabilizer, but with a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 combined with the EOS 6D's excellent ability in low light, I find myself wondering whether it is really needed.

Yesterday, I was wandering around downtown Brisbane, but the weather didn't exactly lend itself to taking downtown photos. So I popped in to an Irish Pub for a beer. I decided to take a photo of the bar. - It is a typical bar in an Irish Pub. There were no people standing at the bar. - Very atypical! ;-)a I set the aperture to f/10 to get a decent depth of field and let the camera do the rest. - 1/25s, f/10.0, ISO:6400. A little bit of post processing with Capture One Pro.

Look at the sharpness and clarity of the signs, particularly those advertising rum on the far left and the far right. I'll try to remember to take the 24-105 along with me next time I go there for comparitive purposes.

Thank you all for the feedback, much appreciated. I still love the focal length, especially since 24mm is nice and wide on full frame; it really is the perfect match for a travel lens, which is probably 90% of what I do. That's probably part of the reason that I need to figure out what happened with my last set of photos. I think I may need to try removing the CP filter and shoot with the bare lens for a bit to see if that is the culprit. The filter is a Hoya G slim Polarizing filter, which I believe is more of the budget line for Hoya, and I know that would be a contributor to the vignetting.

If I dont find the improvements I'm looking for, then it might be time to jump for one of the 24-70/2.8 variants - more gear!
