Sometimes the simplicity of having the on camera flash can't be overlooked. Especially when shooting location or spur of the moment.

I look forward to see what others are shooting on those conditions.

I'll get this thread started with a shot done at the beach, still sunset. Shot with the hotshoe flash on my film Pentax MX. Fuji film.

I've never got the hang of on camera, always looked flat for me. Keen to see what's possible.

Normally when shooting with flash, I try get it off camera, but there are times when that's not practical. Christmas is usually one of those times since we usually have a house full of company and lots of gifts around the tree. I dug out a couple of images of 2 of my grandchildren taken a few years ago around Christmas.

Assistant held a Quantum QFlash Trio Basic about two feet above and to the right of the camera on a Canon OC-E3 off-camera shoe cord while I knelt in the snow. Overcast skies were pretty heavy.

Seems to me then that this is not a shot using on camera flash.

These look very balanced between the flash output and the rest. I like the results!

I would say yes if it's still mounted to the camera hotshoe. Good question and look forward to what gets submitted!

Nice!!. I can see the strong backlighting and how well the onboard flash opened up the exposure for her face and the baby.
