My new 70D continues to excite me. I love its low-light capabilities. This floodlit football pic was 1/25 hand-held ISO 2000. Nothing special composition-wise but I'm delighted with the lack of noise. 10-18 lens.

Spring time finally coming here... Still looks wonky even though I think I lined up the rotation perfect in LR.... oh well :)

Nice set Alan!

Been a hundred years since I posted anything here. Went on trip to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand last month but took my newly acquired 6d out for a spin on that trip to get acquainted with it. I'll bore that thread with those pics! :-)
I used a Tamron 28-75 2.8 on that body during trip and it reminded me how much I liked my 17-50 2.8 on my crop bodies. Decided to slap it on the 70D last night as i'm getting home when there is a bit of remaining light. I think i'm gonna keep this lens on this body for a while.

My 70d looks noiseystarting from iso 1600. Not sure what is wrong other than my lack of photography skill. I got better pics with t3i using sigma 17-50 lens. Kinda not that great with 70d.

Thanks

Canon 70D, Sigma 17-50mm 2.8 os, 10-18mm is stm, 55-250 is stm and 85mm 1.8.

800 ISO is the max on daily shooting when you want clean shots. After that you loose sharpness on the contrast. There are some great photo's
with 6400 ISO but on a daily shooting they are not. The problem mostly is that you don't achieve the right shutterspeed without boosting the ISO
in low light when the apeture is to small >7.1 for optimal DOF. When i see the same result on a FF like the new EOS 1DX mark II you know a crop sensor
has it's limits.

Hey, I heard something that you'd want to raise your ISO to 400 or so for shooting red things, is that true? I can't see how that would help when I can change tones etc in LR, but then again I don't really know exactly how the camera sensors work so... :) (This was btw for macro work, not sure if it applies to everything red?)

Yes, I guess we should all aspire to full frame, but it's a question of the expense. Maybe one day...

I hate having to go 1600 or above with the 70D. Fuji X is proof that you can get good high ISO out of a crop sensor. I'll shoot my X-T1 or X100T at 6400 with confidence, 3200 is awesome and I rarely even apply any noise reduction at 2500.

Yeah, but you will only have manual focus and aperture control via the adapter. Even if you had full control of the lens, I don't think you would be happy if shooting action, which I know you do a lot of. Fuji has it's strengths, but Canon DSLR's beat it hands down it in the action shooting department.
