POTN G-series Speed Challenge #580: CONTRASTS

I DON'T mean high contrast images photographically speaking, but rather shots showing a contrast between other things than black and white or light and shade. Lots of scope here - I hope!

***************

RESULTS

I was surprised not to see more entries showing contrasts that I thought everyone would find easy. Maybe I should have given more examples. E.g. young & old, hot & cold, hard & soft, natural & artificial, clean & dirty - lots of ideas but unfortunately couldn't enter myself!

A few comments:

Trumper - "Horizontal layers and vertical lines": The title explains what contrast you are illustrating, but I think the solid black bottom third of the image is a spoiler.

OhLook - "Living/Constructed": A good reminder that spring conquers concrete.

Car - "New Reflecting Old": A clever contrast of old and new - I like it.

Spoco57 - "Pierce Arrow Wheel". Fine B&W shot of a classic wheel, but apart from the contrast between black and white I don't see it contrasting with anything. Sorry, but see the challenge wording above. Including a foot or shoe might have done the trick!

Maureen Souza- "Joyfully Cleaning": I guess you are showing the contrast between the small child and big cleaning thingy? Or maybe between "joy" and "cleaning" which are usually opposites? Either way, nice shot!

Jim Askew - "Sky to Earth from 38,000 Feet!": Where this was taken? You must have had a window seat and good weather - lucky you!

And the ladies fill the podium this week...

#1 Car
#2 OhLook
#3 Maureen Souza

Congratulations to #1 Car, #2 OhLook, and #3 Maureen Souza! Great entries. I especially enjoyed Car's reflection photo :-)

My photo was made last Friday on our return trip from Los Angles. It was mid afternoon somewhere over Colorado. And yes it was a clear day and I had a First Class window seat :-) I took about 50 photos along the way with the G11 and an equal number using my iPad Mini :-)

Thanks to teekay and congratulations to Car and Maureen. Good topic, teekay, it brought out a slew of well-done interpretations.

Congrats to Car, Maureen and Oh Look. I loved the reflection.

Mine is actually a color shot of a black and white wheel, though that doesn't really excuse my inattention to the challenge rules. I felt after I entered it that it probably wasn't right but I've just been so busy these last couple weeks that I ran out of time looking for a replacement, so I just left it up.

Thanks for the challenge Teekay!

Congrats to Carolyn & OhLook. I really enjoyed the entries this week but had a hard time finding subject matter to fit. When I was running the duster over my floor, 13 month old Ella demanded use of it. Mostly she was frustrated with it as it was way too big for her to manage but then she got into the groove & away she went. Her big grin is not how I feel when I am cleaning.....;-)a
Thanks for the hosting job this week, teekay.

I certainly understand that! It's new to her now, but after 1,000 times it won't feel like an adventure.
