Got this Black Shouldered Kite today . Used a new camo poncho I got off ali express for 20.00 and it got me from around 50 meters out to within approx 5 meters of the Kite..Took a while one step at a time but it was worth it..I was almost eyeballing him nose to nose it felt that close :)....Its by far the closest Ive ever got to a Kite in the wild.

A camo poncho is a great idea.

Yep I agree with other posters ...Absolutely stunning...An amazingly simple composition that works a treat . Especially with the whites leading up to a small delicately balanced cardinal centerd in middle of frame....And the lens angle is perfect ......Thats a wall hanger for sure .....Well done !

Are there any ways to use 3-rd party batteries with this camera? Or has Canon pretty much shut that down?

I get a message asking me if the battery says "Canon" and no matter what I respond, it says it may be counterfeit and shuts down the camera.

I've got a bunch of Wasabi batteries that work fine (no errors/cautions).

I have a bunch of Wasabi batteries as well and they work just fine.

Maybe I'll buy the Wasabi kit. I don't remember which off brand mine are, but I know they're not Wasabi.
