Challenge #581- Cars
_______________

Thanks everyone for taking part, had hoped for more entries but never mind.
Jim – Waiting on the rail cars. Your freight trains amaze me, we are not used to seeing trains of that size here, I was just talking about it the other night with my parents as we were watching a programme that Billy Connolly had done in America travelling via trains.
Maureen - Race Cars, Great composition, great colours and such a cute face – what’s not lo love!
Teekay – Once someone’s pride and joy. Sad but true. Had a few over the years that should have ended up here sooner than they did. Can’t help coming back to it, and seeing things I hadn’t noticed on the previous viewing. I like that about a picture.
Spoco57 – Bentley Detail. Love Bentleys. Great detail, that chrome is immaculate. Love seeing the grill and lights but kind of wish that the ‘B’ hadn’t been cut off at the top.
Raven – Leisurely Drive on a typical Spring day. Oh dear, you have the same kind of spring days that we have! I can sympathise. I’m singing Chris Rea’s Road to Hell in my head.

1st place goes to Raven for his Leisurely Drive – hope the weather improves soon
2nd place goes to Teekay and 3rd goes to Jim
Thanks again for taking part, really struggled tbh, placings changed about a few times as they’re all winners in my eyes.
Carolyn

This afternoon, all being well, I pick up my new (to me) car. So lets see cars, singular, multiple, wrecks, vintage, traffic jams, whatever - as long as there's a car, or part of a car included I'm happy.

Congratulations to Raven and thanks for the #2 spot, Carolyn. Must have been tough judging as all very different takes on "cars". I thought you would get lots more entries showing hotrods and classic cars but as usual was surprised.

My junkyard shot was hard to get as the owners refused to let me into their "field of old dreams" to take photos, and in fact were quite suspicious and nasty about it, maybe thinking I was some sort of cop or insurance guy. The cars were surrounded by trees so I had to sneak a shot from the road quite a distance away and not linger too long.

Congrats to the winners Jim, teekay & Jim! I didn't get out this week to shoot as we had colds, soccer & Jujitsu going on so I had to resort to the indoor options.

Thanks for hosting this week, Carolyn!

Thanks for the surprising win, Carolyn, and for hosting this week.
And congrats to teekay and Jim. Very nice entries this week. I, too, am surprised there weren't more.

I hope you got your new car and put it to good use this weekend :-)

LOL. Love the strategy you took to get your shot, teekay!

I had taken a photo of a 1936 Cord 810. But something happened to the file in camera. Not sure if it's a camera problem or a photographer problem yet :-)
So I had to fall back on this shot.
Carolyn, I think we have very similar weather. There's a joke here that summer starts on the fifth of July. Sadly, most years that's not far off the mark.

I'll have a new theme up in just a few.

Carolyn, great contest! Hope you are enjoying the the new (to you) car? Congratulations to 1st place Raven (Jim), 2nd place teekay, and thanks for the 3rd place nod.

I really liked teekay's junk yard photo...great variety of colors and textures :-) And, Jim's shot of rainy traffic is all too true...been there in that situation many a time :-)

My freight train was a really long one...about a ten minute wait. In fact the State of Illinois is building a flyover at that crossing to lift the roadway over the tracks...it is about 80% complete...I'll grab a photo of the site this summer when we visit with our daughter there.

Congrats to the winners! Good shots, all.

I took this closeup of a Bentley at the Pierce Arrow Museum in Buffalo a couple months back. I had another one that included the B, but I liked the lighting and the crispness of this one better. Unfortunately, it cut the top of the hood ornament. Oh well!

Thanks for hosting Car. I thought your namesake topic would garner a lot more entries.

Steve
