POTN G-series Speed Challenge #582 - Macro With Texture
Given we're well into spring now, let's get outside and put the G-Series macro function to use. Lots of new growth out there right now for example.
Although not true macro (1:1 or greater), I think the G-Series cameras do very nice closeup photos. OK, I won't limit it to just outside. But, to make it more interesting, let's capture something with texture, be it rough or uniform.
Given that it may be difficult to tell what you have photographed, please include what the subject is in your title.
OK, show of hands - how many of you thought to yourself that you're glad you're not judging this week?
I thought so
Everyone of you managed to prove my G-Series macro statement right on.
The bad news is that it's obvious that narrowing the winner list down to three was not in the least bit easy.
The good news is that it was impossible to make bad choices.
Maureen: Poppy Popping Open - What an eye catcher this photo was to see. Focus, lighting, colors; all spot on!
M_Six: Black Bean and Corn Salad - The only food entry and it's a good one! Love the mix of colors and textures. A little soft but it still works.
teekay: Thatching Ants at Work - Wow! Now that's one unique texture for sure! Beautifully captured. And kudos for getting so close to this mob.
JimAskew: Gold Ring on Blue Denim - Nice combination of textures. I like how you paired the blue stone with the denim. And great focus especially considering the angle you had to shoot from.
Sibil: Calla Lily - Beautiful combination of smooth and rough textures. Nicely shot. Great composition.
RW123: Stamens - Another excellent flower shot. I like the DOF. Nice mix of colors and lighting.
Spoco57: Cactus - Perfect model for macro and texture. In fact, I can almost feel that texture Very nicely done.
OhLook: Cone From Unidentified Conifer - I really like the perspective on this shot. Very cool. Can't say I've ever seen a cone like that. And I love the wood under the cone!
corythosaurus: Snowy Blossoms - Nice mix of textures. Beautiful photo but would be even better if you had a little more light. But then, the skies were probably pretty gray.
Trumper: Vintage Books - Nice capture of an art form that just isn't done that much any more. Nice DOF. A little soft but still a very nice photo.
Whew! Very glad to see so many entries this week.
I literally spent hours going back and forth between all these photos. Not only because I needed to make a decision. But because they're just so nice to look at.
I finally just had to make selections based on what I'd most likely enlarge and put on my office wall.
3rd Place: Sibil - Calla Lily
2nd Place: teekay - Thatching Ants At Work
1st Place: Maureen - Poppy Popping Open
That said, they really were all winners. Thanks everyone!
It's all yours, Maureen!
