ahhh, that is too bad. I have a friend that bought an arabian. They wouldn't allow her daughter on it until it was fully trained at 5 but by then the daughter was at the end of her wanting to do it. The daughter turned about 16 and decided she had had enough. They practically gave that horse away just to get out of it, and I wasn't able to buy it at the time. We just bought a 2 year old appendix last summer so just starting out in the business...

You either have perverse interests in riding vestigial human organs, or that's one of the funniest autocorrects of all time. :)

An appendix horse is a cross between a thoroughbred and a quarter horse

It is a funny name, but one heck of a horse. Good for both English and jumping and also at western in quarter horse.

When AQHA was building their breed, some wanted race horses, and crossed many on Thoroughbreds, so AQHA started the Appendix registry to include those Quarter/ TB crosses along with their standard 'bulldog' type quarter horses. You can advance an appendix registered horse to regular registry, with showing and earning of required 'points' at AQHA shows.

So we in the AQHA world call them 'appendix' horses. Nothing to do with vital or non vital organs. :-)

First spring turn out of my mare. I was prepared with camera in hand. She made me nervous a few times when she ran straight towards me!

Wonderful portrait of a senior citizen: lovely soft eyes on this one. My old horse also lived past thirty.

Geez, don't people know by now that barbed wire and horses don't mix? My friend had to put one down that got all tangled up in that stuff while he was at work.
