Greetings!
I've had the G5X for a few weeks now and am very pleased with the camera's operation and image quality. I shoot RAW and use Canon DPP to convert and send to Photoshop CS6. Here is a link to my gallery of G5X images: http://rvnomad.500px.com/g5x (external link)

Yes, I agree: the G5x produces nice, detailed images. I only view my photos on a laptop or iPad Pro tablet, and at that size they are comparable to what comes out of my DSLRs. The sensor size limits DR, but that's a given and hasn't been an issue for me so far.

I bought a G7 X last year and while I loved the size and quality of build along with the pics it produced, I wasn't a fan of no viewfinder and the way the screen articulated. Decided to replace it with a G5 X for a quality, compact, always carry around camera.

While out wandering around the week after Christmas, I came across a one-car rollover accident and was able to grab a quick pic...

Great gallery of shots. I am getting the G5X tomorrow as I need a small walk around camera, as my 5D iii is just to big to carry all the time.
I have been second guessing myself as I have read a few unfavourable threads about the G5X, but your photos show me how good it can be. Hope you are still enjoying it.

Cheers
Kath

Kath,

You will love this little camera. It is easy to use and takes great photos. I bought mine in March and have used it just about every day since. I shoot in Auto and P modes most of the time. IQ is consistently great. I have not noticed any of the "softness" others have complained about. The only wart is battery life...I only get about 200 shots on a full charge, so a 2nd battery is a must.

I hope you enjoy your G5X and post up some sample photos soon :-)

Jim

Jim, thank you. I'm in the UK and we are going to Wales for a week tomorrow. Large old fashioned dams that I hope to get some good shots of. Though as usual with the UK weather it is not looking promising.

I begrudged paying £56 for the spare battery, but I bought one all the same....LOL....nothing worse than the battery dying.
Cheers
Kath
