Planes seen at FLL FXE & MIA

I was going through some old files as I try to free up disc space on my harddrive when I realized I have hundreds of aviation images worth sharing. So I am using this thread to show images of rare, interesting and different planes/jets spotted at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL), Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE) and Miami International Airport (MIA).

I chose the following images to start the thread because jumbo jets are rarely seen at FLL and there is an interesting story behind this unique plane. The pilot of "Ed Force One" is the lead singer of the UK Rock group Iron Maiden. How cool is that? Paul Bruce Dickinson (aka Bruce Dickinson) is currently flying a Boeing 747 around the world on the "Book of Souls World Tour." The tour started in Fort Lauderdale back in February 2016. On Friday February 19th over 100 fans and photographers were in the viewing area when Bruce Dickinson landed the Boeing 747 at FLL. This was one of those "you had to be there" moments.

Eastern Airline is back. After decades of absence, Eastern started making chartered flights to Cuba in 2015. No doubt the airline will benefit from the change in USA-Cuba relations. I hope they give American Airline, Delta and United Airline some much needed competition in the near future.

This is a strange looking jet. This is the Piaggio P180 Avanti built in 2003. It is powered by two turboprop P & W engines.

Wow, how cool is that !? What aviation fan wouldn't like to pilot his own 747 around the world ? Thanks for sharing that story !

On June 1 2015 I saw (for the first time) the biggest commercial airliner, the Airbus A380. I got goose bumps as I watch a Lufthansa A380 jumbo jet approach Runway 9 at MIA. Man, that aircraft is HUGE! The rear tail is about eight stories high and the wingspan is nearly the length of a football field. Massive!

Most of the planes seen at FLL belong to JetBlue, Spirit, SouthWest and Delta. Sooner or later you get tired of seeing and photographing these planes. But you never get tired of seeing the small private jets. They are fast, they are colorful and they are the envy of many. It would be nice to own/lease of of these "expensive toys."

JetBlue began flying in February 2000. To celebrate their 15th anniversary in 2015 they repainted one of their Airbus A320s to display the "Bluemanity" livery in honor of its employees. Mike Elliott, the airline's senior vice president said at the time,"This plane with our values proudly displayed across the fuselage is a tribute to all JetBlue crewmembers, the best in the industry, who take our mission to inspire humanity and make it real every day."

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner group of planes (787-8, 787-9, 787-10) is Boeing's flagship series. These planes are more fuel efficient than comparable sized planes due to carbon-composite bodies that make them lighter. They are designed for long haul flights and have improved features like larger windows and improved lighting for a better customer experience.

The 787-8 has a range of 7,355 nautical miles (13,620 km) carrying 242 passengers in a 2-class configuration, the 787-9 has a range of 7,635 nautical miles (14,140 km) carrying 290 passengers in a 2-class configuration, and the 787-10 has a range of 6,430 nautical miles (11,910 km) carrying 330 passengers in a 2-class configuration.
