Some more puffins... http://photography-on-the.net .../showthread.php?t=1459393

I'm seriously impressed with this camera's all-round ability. There may be other cameras that can better it slightly in specific areas (e.g. DR) but they're typically compromised in some other way whereas the 1DX2 isn't. It's class-leading or near class-leading on all fronts. That's quite an achievement.

That is exactly how I feel, this is just a great all around camera. I loved the 1dx and this model is improved in many areas, just sweet. I just did some more video stuff today and just wow.

so you "have" to use a card reader for the "II" ?
I've been just plugging my cameras into the computer to download pics ...
I had a CF card mess up on me constantly putting it in & taking it out...
I don't even have a CF card reader anymore...
will the Cfast card reader read regular CF cards?

stuff

I can't wait to get some images in good light, but it seems to do just fine in overcast conditions.

Here is another sample at ISO 3200. I shot this in jpeg, with in camera high ISO noise reduction set in the middle. I can't believe how great of a job the jpeg engine does in this machine.
This is an 80% crop with a 100-400. I played with the shadows and highlights in PS, but no additional noise reduction. I couldn't be happier with the 1DX Mark ll.

No, I used the ethernet port the other day as my PC doesn't have a USB3.0 - worked well writing directly to my NAS.

From what I remember, I would say AF on the 1DX felt between 10-25% faster, depending on the lens you're using. For a lens like the 85L, the higher voltage battery drives the motor faster and you really notice the difference. But on bright sunny days or good lighting, the difference is a lot smaller between the 5D3 and 1DX. The 1DX2 feels snappier to want to focus. Kind of like it's hyped up on caffeine and eager to focus.

Thanks. On paper the 5D3 and 1Dx were almost the same (minus iTR) but I'd seen comments the 1Dx was just that bit better.

From your comment above I'm getting the gist there's more of a difference between the 1Dx2 and 1Dx than the 1Dx and 5D3 - is that an accurate assessment?

I agree the 5D3 and the 1DX is close and it's the reason I went for a new 5D3 recently instead of waiting for a 1DX2 as I don't need the extras it has.

Still waiting for the 1DX II + 135L combo result

Post some please, i would be very grateful if you also give some review of this combo.

If the budget is less than my expectation, i will likely go for 1DX II (or could be a 5D3, i hope not :-D) + 35L II + 135L which is absolutely cheaper 1DX II + 300 f2.8 II + 35L II (my expectation :-P :p)

The money is still long to come, what i can do now is considering the best combo for each budget options. I don't want to regret later

Not really sure why it would look much different than the combo using another body?

Yes it is. There are many Canon blogs that include both. I still want the 1DX II but I really enjoy my 7D2. I have sold my 5D3. I'm not in a big hurry. Knee replacement on Monday and I was not going to look into the IDX II for a few months. I may wait until the 5D4 comes out. If they increase the FPS to 7 or 8 I will take a serious look at it. I just need that, the similar AF system and whatever other goodies will be a bonus.

Am I about right here or missing something

600f4 mkII 1dxmkII = 21mp

400f4 DO mkII 5dsr = 50mp the image will be around 33% smaller but that still leaves 33mp making the image about 34% bigger than the 1dxmkII 600 combo

This is for Mps on the bird if taken from the same position

Have I got this about right ?
Rob.
