Terry, nice macro on that needle. That was one of the things I thought of too (but not with a sewing machine needle).

Levina, really nice job on those napkins. Very well done & creative.

Cool shot on the cannon, Kevin! I like the flames & a great backdrop for the firing.

That nautilus shell is cool, Joayne. The blue light adds an extra bit of intrigue.

John, that night/light painting is neat. I'm guessing that was done with one of those LED wands? I'll probably do a night shot later this week too (maybe).

Terry, I wondered if someone would post a Nikon pic! :-)

Pete, that duckling (or gosling) is too cute!

Last night I was playing around with some nickels & flashes. I was trying to catch them in mid-air, so these are single shots, not composites. I did add a little better background on the first one.

Another pass at catching them mid-air, but I added the starburst in post just to add a little more interest.

A couple of early birds scooped me on new and nuts. Here, then, is my third idea: a narrow gap. Inspired by crossing a parking lot.

Good ones Kevin . Must be a story as to why this is called the Nine o'clock gun.

Thank you Terry.....the short story for the name is that it goes off every night at 9pm.
It has been in it's place since 1898. The complete story behind it firing when it does
seems to have been lost over the years, but the general thought seems to be that it
was fired at 9pm as a way for ships in the harbour and residents to be able to set
their clocks daily.

Thank you, everybody who said nice things about and/or liked my napkins. Much appreciated.

Terry, thank you especially for your kind and generous compliment. It means something.

Kevin, I love your 9 o'clock gun shots. The first is great because of the angle with the visor (I think it's called that in English, yes?) and the second is just a great shot. I was puzzled by the tents until I understood they're not really tents at all!

Joayne, that is a well done shot of the shell.

Johnh, that's a cool shot. I light paint small objects sometimes, but have never done something this big. Do you have to use a really big torch for this?

Benitoite, what a nice shot! Whenever I see a picture of a Jay, I think "I wish we had them here". They're so beautiful.

Pete, the ducks and ducklings are cute as always!

Terry, love your Ni... Nik... your N pic... :p  Seriously, that's pretty.

Lisa, the coin pics are pretty cool. I have to say though that I thought they were just coins lying on black cloth. Because of the solid black background there is no context and so there is no way of knowing that you actually caught the coins in mid air. That is such a pity. Did you shoot them like this or did you add the black background in post?
And I love your cat picture!

OhLook, a well spotted and original N!

With a good dose of Spring snow followed by sunshine, we have seen some big changes in the landscape in the past three days.

Some very good N's, Paul. I know "ascent" and "descent" but had to look up the meaning of "nascent" so I learned something today! :)

How about some Nail polish? I think it's the only time I actually regretted not being fond of flaming red nails as that colour would no doubt have worked better for the pic, but this is the reddest colour I have.

John, that night/light painting is neat. I'm guessing that was done with one of those LED wands? I'll probably do a night shot later this week too (maybe).

Thank you everyone. So the technique for the Night Painting is as follows:

So I purchased a 5 foot LED light strip from Amazon (Audew 5 foot RGB 5050 SMD 45 Light LED Strip with Battery Box) and mounted it to a 5 foot piece of PVC pipe with two-sided tape. Then mount the camera on a tripod, and use "Bulb" mode to open shutter. Then I walked to the back of the bush on the left and turned on the light strip and slowly walked from left to right holding the PVC pipe vertical. I turned it off after I got to the right side next to the brick column. Then I ran over to the camera and using the remote, closed the shutter so the exposure would end. Total exposure time was 89 seconds.

Yeah, see I thought it would have to be something like that, as it's a lot of ground to cover. Thanks for the explanation!

I agree!
And John, that's the second new word I learned today: Nori.

Tim, your "nose" made me laugh. So cute.

Joayne, another great pic.
