I always write to both cards. The CF card's version had a clean file. None of the other files were corrupt. That helps to rule out the camera.

I'm tihnking it helps to rule out the image processor but not necessarily the CFast card slot and associated specific module(s) and/or processor(s)

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

I don't have a link but someone on FM posted that the only CFast 2.0 card that has been tested and apparently certified by Canon is the Sandisk card included with the bundle. In addition, the Sandisk reader should be used. I've read that Transcend and Lexar are a problem which isn't a Canon problem but, the CFast 2.0 card manufacturers issue. If I hear anymore information, I will pass it on.

I shoot tens of pictures with new card, all were OK in Br and PS in my office Mac mini (with USB 3.0) and home old iMac (with USB 2.0) yesterday.

I open the files agin with same Sandisk reader at office this morning, and found one of the tens file was damaged. :(

So, what's going on?

So the only problem i see at the moment is many CFast cards are having trouble with the rate of data transfer when shooting either RAW or RAW+jpeg as i cant replicate the lock ups or corrupt files in any other way or with any other lenses or settings and infact the CFast card works fine in bursts using just jpeg.

If you just stick with using the CF card slot all is ok in all of my tests when shooting RAW or jpeg but you loose the option to shoot 4K video.

But why some files were OK before but show up corrupted later on?

A few yeaars ago I had the same problem with my new 5DIII and CF cards. The same corrupt files as shown up in this thread. I was advised to replace the card reader which I did with a lexar reader since I only use Lexar cards. The problem was solved and I never had any corrupt files again. :-)

While the high ISO performance has definitely improved, shooting raw and in (genuinely) low-light I'm not seeing the ultra-high ISO improvements that some are. To my untrained eye, ISO3200 appears significantly better than on the 1DX1, ISO6400 is a bit better and my personal limit has probably gone up from ISO6400 to around ISO10,000. I do wonder whether some of the really impressive ISO12800 and up shots that I've seen on the web look that good because the subject was well illuminated.

I think the huge improvements are in JPEGs. The 1DX series 1 and 2 are really for heavy fast work in the sports world. It's not a wedding camera where one would expect raw shooters to proliferate.

Having read a lot of posts all over the 'net these last few weeks I have noticed a lot of shots have been posted sooc JPEGs. I'm not even gonna think about one until the CFast situation is orted tho
