The toys are different these days but this has a '50s "Stand by me" sort of look to it. I like it.

Except for the helmet.

No one ever even heard of a bicycle helmet in the 50s.

I got this same response on another forum. In fact I even got the same follow on helmet comment. Too weird.

The attitude, grooming and environment make the shot. Toys change, people don't and you created the proof.

Good job.

Not that weird, just a sad but obvious comment on how pathetically smothered by H&S we have allowed ourselves to become...

Yep...shame about the helmet. Now it would have worked if it were an old military style helmet. They were plentiful. I really like the feel of this shot and the B&W conversion fits it well.

I definitely get the Beaver, Wally, and Eddie feel with this one! Of course, the kid with the helmet would be the Beav!

This is super cool. Lighting is perfect. I think I'd clone out the people at the top for perfection.

In street work cloning is seen by many as a no no. I like it as is. The fact it shows a busy stairway and I find the overall shape the group of people are making interesting and the fact there is only one shadow in the bottom less obvious and still to the visual point. They group is tied together with the line from the shadow of the middle lady in the group. Great line running down the center. The single lady forms the head of an arrow and that points directly to the shadow of her and the shadows lines also ties the two together. The lines from the shadows tie it all together. In my opinion this images is very good as. The perfect photograph hasn't been taken though Bresson, Winograd, Weston and Adams all came very close a few times.

I prefer it the way it is. The group are the orchestra and the woman is the soloist - the photo is complete. It would tell a very different story if she was alone.
