I think for us folks in the UK it will more expensive then the mk3 because of the brexit. Already prices of various electronics have shot up the roof as much as 20% more expensive.

Sadly that's just a fact of life with the Pound Sterling having dropped significantly against the Yen and the US Dollar. With luck Canon might try to keep UK pricing similar to what it was previously, but I'm not holding out a huge amount of hope.

The 24-105ii may be a killer, if only I could justify lol

Let's see if it is as good as the 24-70 II @ 24 on a FF. There is the problem with pre-ordering with kit. No real reviews on the lens and usually the kit is a pretty good deal.

Dual Pixel RAW: One of the RAW file recording both the normal image and the parallax information. Digital Photo Professional of the “Dual Pixel RAW Optimizer” in the can: three of image processing

Image Micro-adjustment: by using the depth information, fine adjustment enables the position of the maximum sharpness and resolution
Bokeh Shift: to change the position of the previous blur (original: repositions the viewpoint of foreground bokeh for a more pleasing result)
Ghosting Reduction: reduces the ghost and flare

Curious if we will have to use DPP to set up MA. No issues for initial set up but I wonder if you always have to use it for max benefit. You will have to use DPP for Bokeh shift is my guess. I'm sure Canon would like everyone to use their software.

I skipped the 5d3 as I had gotten the 5d2 the fall of 2011.

For the past 5 years the 5d2 served its purpose as I learned more about the craft of photography. Now though it's time to upgrade. My current kit consists of
:5D2
Sigma 35mm1.4
EF50mm 1.2l
EF135mm 2.0l
And
Fuji X-T1 ,XF 16mm 1.4XF, 35mm 1.4

To afford a 5D4 I'm going to sell the Fuji, the Fuji lenses, and the Sigma 35 to help fund it.Then I get a nagging feeling do I really want to spend that kind of money when the prices of the 5D3 are sure to drop and remember coming from a 5D2 the 5D3 to me is utterly amazing.I rented a 5d3 last week and felt like a fool for never upgrading. The focus system alone would have been worth the money. So now I'm torn, do I sell some gear and go for the 5d4, or pick up a 5D3?I mainly shoot weddings, portraits, and family. I'm not a working photographer, but do pick up a job or two a month. Well I guess that does make me somewhat of a working photog but I haven't decided to go all in with photography just yet.My to buy list for the next few months is.

New body
16-35mm haven't decided which one.
85mm - waiting on sigma to announce a art series.
70-200is ii
Obviously the 5d4 will cut into one of those lenses, erasing it from what i can afford. What to do.

If rumours are correct, and the sensor has the same improvements seen in the 80D and 1Dx2 then you can probably assume that (vs the 5D3):

  • AF will be a little bit better (probably a fair bit in really dark environments, and especially if you need AF at f/8: i.e. long lenses with a TC)
  • Low ISO DR will be quite a bit better (important if you lift shadows)
  • Resolution will be better (probably only important if you crop or print really big)
  • High ISO quality may be a little bit better
  • Burst speed (and hopefully buffer depth) should be a little better
  • Dual Pixel AF will give decent AF in Liveview (and also for video)
  • 4K video

For me, the low ISO DR, resolution increase, and burst improvements are enough. DPAF should be an occasional plus too. A step forward in high ISO would be nice, but realistically we can't expect more than the 1Dx 2. Whether that's enough for weddings over the 5D3 is moot - maybe the better low light AF improvements.

I must have been watching other lines,
The 1D was tending to go down (or stay the same, same thing with 1Ds line) up until they "X'ed" it.

1Dx II launched for less than 1Dx.

XXd was going down. Started as a $3,200.00 camera! (D30) , leveled off at $1,500.00 for many years, then dropped again.

5d as mentioned went way down from original to "2". The jump in price for the 5D3 appeared to make sense when it went from the middling performer it was in the previous versions to a half sized 1Dx that could EASILY be put to any task a photographer could dream up for an SLR.

Obviously there are times it doesn't follow the norm. Just don't think we will see that here. Although we 'should' as seemingly Canon does follow the Yen/Exchange rates(sometimes.

I agree on that BUT to me all the smaller details adds up. For me the other important things are:

Wifi
Multiple page on the "My Menu"
Red light during servo
Anti-Flickr BIG ONE FOR ME
Min Shutter menu updated
iTR tracking
8mp frame grab from 4K (another big one for me)
usable 25,600 ISO (smidge better than 6D would make me happy)

One more item, faster write times to the SD card... That has irked me in the past.

That would be awesome. I normally use CF+SD for backup and forgot to take the SD out last weekend when I was shooting my kid's soccer game. Yeah, its pretty darn slow.

I hope the SD card is the faster card using the II spec getting 312MB/s speed.

I use Record to Multiple on my 5dIII at weddings. It has become less of a frustration and forced me to slow down and shoot less, but then there's the action packed times when you want to throw all that zen crap out the window and just make images. i hope its UHS-II.

I sure hope it has the 1DXii's high ISO capability. 12,800 on the 5dIII/6D is ok, but if it were a stop or more cleaner that would surely be welcome. Now and then I do shoot that at a wedding. That along with the faster card slots will probably be enough to get me to buy one before year end. I just chucked my 6D last week, fortunately! :-D
