Basically they say that their cameras are more sophisticated than the users (generally).

I was shocked too but they did say that they will suspend development but continue to produce what they have now seeing that they can't make it any easier for users to shoot. To me, since phone cameras are being used so much, the camera "bug" might hit them too and they would want to learn more about cameras and get better gear.
