I got up early this morning and headed to the coast for sunrise. Although I brought several lenses with me, I ended up sticking with the 16-35 IS for the vast majority of the time. All of these were uploaded to Flickr at pretty high res, so feel free to download them and check out the details and quality from the 5Ds sensor.

Three shot vertical pano:

5 shot pano. More than 12k pixels on the long side :-P

The resolution is really just absurd - it genuinely surprises me (and my computer's RAM) every time I open new files. A perfect example: I didn't even know there was anyone fishing out there until I merged the files after I got home. :p

All nice but that second shot is fantastic. There is something magical shooting wide.

Well, if that helmet saved your life even once, you should be retiring it and buying a new one! ;)

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

this may already be known, but there is now updated Firmware for the 5DSR (version 1.1 versus old 1.01) that is for the new wireless W-E1 adapter

you can find it on the canon site of link to my Dropbox (below is the APPLE Version)
- https://www.dropbox.com ...sd8tqsm/5DSR0110.FIR?dl=0 (external link)

1) Download file above, or from Canon site
2) format your SD card in the camera
3) place file in the root directory of your SD card
4) I removed the CF card
5) go to the 4th menu (wrench) 4th tab
6) choose firmware version

takes a couple minutes

according to the Canon website, you cannot go back if you upgrade it

I don't own the W-E1 adapter, and without it attached, I cannot see any menu differences - camera also works fine tested with a bunch of the main Canon Lenses, 2 Tamrons and a Sigma 24-105

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.
