Not sure which sky-wheel picture I liked better with the X-Pro2 and XF 35/1.4, from my first outing with my X-Pro2 at the National Harbor

Yes it's my Canon :)

I just wanted to show what I'd like to start doing (with fuji) with my workflow during reception/events photography. Right now my current Canon gear just "works". Not saying its the best in the world but I can deliver exactly what I need or want to do for events.

I can't really do similar photos with my fuji. I'm still feeling totally helpless with no HSS/TTL flash. I can handle TTL flash indoors but I do prefer having HSS for unpredictable outdoors run/gun. This is why I must use the fuji as strictly a secondary system at the moment.

I was shooting at a party last week, it was dark enough for the camera to not lock focus very well, so I was manual focusing the lenses at wide open aperture, while manual setting the shutter & ISO and manually balancing the i40 flash. It all seamed so easy now, seeing a B&W preview with the red dots of the focus peaking highlighting the focus point while the camera zoomed in to the selected point as I rotated the focus ring. Love these little cameras.

Despite working in London, I so rarely go out and take photos - yesterday was an exception:

Just curious how dark the venue was???

I seldom have that issue with my 5dmk2 or mk3 while shooting on a dance floor. The light sensitivity isn't really an issue with the clunky heavier dslr gear. Using AF my hit rate is still substantially higher with my heavier dlsr vs my 16mpx fuji bodies.

Dark [as in 6400iso, 1/30 @f2] but more the fact of the flashing lights of the DJ added to the somewhat slow focus 2/18 in low light. It will grab AF but not all the time so I find it easier to just do that bit myself as it lets the camera be instant to shoot. That way I can make sure I get the moment I need.

I did find myself missing my 5D3 with a 430/580/600 on top with the AF assist on. That is painless AF right there.

But TBH I kinda enjoy doing all the work with these cameras & the amount of questions and comments I get about the look of the camera is nice to. Happened today while I was burning 30 mins over coffee, good conversation starter and she asked if I give courses, I opted out.

Happened to find a RRS PCL-1 in the bargain bin of Conns Cameras today, had to ask the owner if he meant it to be in there. He said you have to through in the odd gem now and again and wished me well. €50 well spent!

Also my XF16mm arrived today, just have to go pick it up now from my PO box & bumped into a fellow X who is ordering a GFX 50S so I'll get a borrow. A good day.
