With the 6d being a related FF version of the 70D (body layout with similar MP count but also crippled from the 5d3) means the new 6d2 should float similarly near the 80D in features and body. 80D is currently the best aps-c sensor. Here's my thoughts.

24MP - this is a good number to separate it from the 5d4. 6d/5d3 was only 20/22 so next gen 24/30 seems logical.
1st FF fully articulating screen - This makes sense to test it in real world usage before implementing in the 5D series. Has to be more than just tilt
DPAF for live view but no 4K - Sharper implementation of 120??
touchscreen - This has be be able to be disabled. There's NOTHING more annoying about the EOS m hanging from my neck than accidentally hitting the touchscreen on my clothes and moving the AF pt or jumping into other screens.
19-45 pt AF - In all honesty I don't care if it's a high count. Just give me f8 ctr dbl cross pt. All other cross & outer pts that ACTUALLY work
-3EV for ALL af pts - Ah man how awesome would this be for dark reception halls at weddings?
Dual card slots. - pretty please!!! another issue for wedding photographers. I know I know all wedding photogs should buy a 5d4 yadda yadda
Digic 7 - 1st FF w/ new chip. Might be low light king of new generation.
5-6FPS - Most likely 5 to help differentiate from the 5d4's 7FPS. Current 6d is 4.5FPS

Hybrid mirror system?? Optical w/ EV option??? 6d would be the one to 'try it out' on first. This would be the 6d2's 'innovation'

the 6d2 HAS to best the 5d3 or new buyers(upgraders included) won't buy it. That means it has to have at least 22MP, similar or better AF as well as some other tasty morsels. If they can keep it to the same release price as the original 6d at $2100 they'll sell tons! My self included. I may preorder and purchase a new camera for the first time. Canon needs customers like me, finally decided that a new camera is worth it's retail asking price. In a time where they're losing users to mirrorless they need to have a successful entry FF.

I agree with ma11rats, for the most part.

There are two big fictions in the post, however. The 6D was released at $2099. And you don't need a 5Danything to shoot weddings. Two years ago, I met a young lady doing an engagement shoot in a local park. She was supporting herself and two children doing weddings/engagements, and some product work. She was using and XT (XTi?), hoping to upgrade to a then-current Rebel, if the money kept coming in. Vision, talent, perseverance, and luck matter as much as gear, sometimes. I hope she is still out there doing it... with a 1DX II!

My reference to 'needing' a 5d for weddings was for those who gasp at the idea of not shooting to 2 cards on paid sessions. Also, being off by $100 on my 6d is not what I would call big fiction, just a mis-type. It has been corrected.

Fair enough. I don't get the 2-card thing, either. If my 5Dwhatever breaks and is only writing to one card, I'd be grabbing a backup PFQ. If 2 cards refers to a failing card, I can understand that, I suppose. My 1DIV can write to both cards simultaneously. Just gives me more to delete. I'm not getting paid, though.

I have always (and probably always will) centre-point focus and recompose. That is why I choose the 6d over 5d3 for weddings. The 6d has been a great camera for wedding photography and have never really thought I needed more FPS or Faster autofocus. I am yearning for better higher ISO and dynamic range though :)

Focus recompose doesn't work when in AI Servo. You can't focus recompose when the bride is walking down the aisle. or when you want to frame the first dance off center.

It does if you recompose by cropping in post. :)

That's exactly what they are referring to. There are many examples of folks losing an entire wedding/portrait/event etc. because the single card failed beyond recovery...on paying jobs mind you..and to many didnt/don't have insurance to cover the damage.. A dual card camera is cheap insurance when you are getting paid..

Murphy's law will bite you when you can least afford it..;-)a

If Canon started thinking like apple, they would sell us a wifi hard drive that automatically downloaded the pictures from the 6d2 as they were taken instead of giving us a second card slot.

Create a problem and then provide a more expensive solution for it. Case in point: Apple removes the head phone jack on the iPhone 7 so you can't charge the phone and listen to head phones at the same time. Solution: sell ridiculous wireless ear pods for $160 or $300 beats wireless ones

Certainly not the ideal, but it was about the only option in days not so far back. Recompose or prefocus. I did weddings like that in the days of my Canon AE-1 Program and A-1. Everybody did. Not saying I want to go back to that! ;)

the next 6D mirrorless.

hmmm that's a game changer. If it's mirrorless then it's not going to have the AF point increase that people think it will have.

Actually it likely means that it will have a significant AF point increase. Mirrorless bodies can AF anywhere on the frame.

I don't buy it. I don't believe that they would release there 1st FF mirrorless for the same price that a 6D2 would release at. With all the R&D necessary to make it work would require a higher price point, something closer to the 5d4.

They've done a lot of the necessary R&D with the M through M5 and with live view in their DSLRs.
