Pros:
- The cheapest way to go full frame;
- Great tonality and colors;
- Love the shutter sound;
- Big and bright viewfinder;
- Solid build;
- Very sharp when viewed at 100%, which means a weak low pass filter;

Cons:
- No AutoISO, only available at green mode;
- ISO3200 max (extended);
- Recovering shadows brings a lot of noise (unless using ISO50);
- LCD screen has poor definition and has a green tint;
- No Liveview;
- No dual cards;
- No 100% viewfinder;
- Slow fps: 3 only;
- No silent mode;

Conclusion: 5D is a back to basics, no bull* features, wonderfull full frame camera. I'll keep shooting with until is dead. Its a classic. The only thing i really miss is liveview and a decent LCD screen.

Final note: bought mine on ebay and it looked perfectly new as out of the box. Just after a dozen test shots, the mirror fell!:cry: But then i just used superglue and now works fine! :-P So just be sure the mirror was already fixed by Canon before buying.

I own two of them, just in case one dies, and will shoot them til they die. Both of mine had the mirror fix done, and I have no idea the shutter count, but with this body, and the images it produces, it doesn't matter.

Your images are proof of what the 5D is capable of.

I was shooting with the 40D (Great camera in its own right) at the time. My friend had switched to the 5D and I got to use it a couple of times and loved the results. It would be a couple more years before I could afford to purchase nice glass to accommodate a full frame body. Once I did, I was able to pick up the 5DII and it's still my main body to this day. Looking back I wish I would have been able to save a little bit more and went with the 5D from the get go. Great body, simplistic and gets the job done!

1 exposure only, exposed to the right and then lifted shadows:

Zero noise at ISO 50 at the shadow areas.

Nice to see the good old 5D still being used. I got one from the first batch and it opened my eyes to FF cameras. I still have it but have not used it for years due to later models taking center stage.

I think I must take a few photos with it again, thanks for reminding me what a great camera it is!

Love your photos btw!

Thanks for the great review. I might pick one up to use in situations where lighting is plentiful.

About to grab one myself for dirt cheap. Can’t wait to get it. Great review.
