Thanks. And at a local wetlands wehre these birds fly back and forth across the boardwalk all day and nest in plain view of visitors. Great photo op unless you swing your big lens around and whack some senior citizen who is speedwalking......Let me know if you come down this way. This is in Palm Beach County.
:-D

Thanks for the offer. Where were you shooting?

Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Delray Beach. A public boardwalk right through it and there are nesting birds everywhere in late winter/spring. Right now there is a pair of great blue herons with a chick. I haven't seen it yet but have seen many photos of the pair and the chick in a Facebook group. There is a FB group devoted to this place and another local wetlands, Green Cay, you can find it and join and see what people are seeing there. The quality of photos is very uneven but you can see what is there at any given time from the locals.

If you make it down this way let me know, I can meet up with you and we can go to these two and/or another one or two that are worth the trip in this area. Also near the Space Center there are two great wetlands that are drive-through. MedicineMan just got back from there, I met him there last year at this time. The Space Center is north of me, a couple of hours drive.

I am very familiar with that wetland. I went there back in 2015. I was at the Everglades shooting and another photographer told me about it. I was in awww when I got there. There were babies all over the place. The closest nest was at that gazebo just as you walked onto the board walk on the right side. I got great shots even with my 70-200 lens.

I also went to the Brian Piccolo park for the Burrowing Owls. I had the park to myself.

Then you know what a great spot it is. I go there on a regular basis, and to sister wetlands Green Cay as well. have been to Brian Piccolo also and the birds are out even when the ball fields are full of kids!!

The lens was up to the challenge of this crazy scene. However, I am also seeing strange effects with tall grass backgrounds. See second photo.
