I was happy with Kenko extension tubes, until i used them to hang a 1D off the back of my 500mm. There was a bit of flex, and it made me nervous. Now for the big jobs I only use the Canon tubes. The "air" is the same, but the tube is a good deal more solid.

I have not felt the same way about the Kenko t-Con however, but having seen it in the tubes, I can understand the concern.

Ummm. I've never noticed any flex with mine or paid attention to it maybe.

Peter, I noticed quite a difference IQ when I went fron the 2Xll to the 2X lll on my 500mm f4 version 1. I can't speak for the Kenko, never tried one.

This is good news, at first I thought that the 2x MkIII are made better for mark II or version 2 telephoto lens so I never really consider it for my 500 v1. Thanks for letting me know, I will just go with mkIII then I don't mind buying a used tc. Thanks Larry

I use it on the 300 2.8IS lens with great results, so definitely do the III and not the II.

This Black Redstart at Brean Sands, Somerset made it easy for me. She was happy to pose. I had the Sun directly behind me, the situation couldn't have been any better.

I used my 1.4TC III with the Gitzo Monopod and Wimberley Gimbal. I find this set-up gives me great stability and I find I'm using my tripod less and less now. More so because it's more easier to move around with the Monopod.

Don't even begin to think I'm criticizing your images.

I have just got one of these and love it, the keeper rate and image quality is far superior to the 150-600 Sigma C I was using. Bit of a lump to carry round but ok to hand hold for short periods. I will have a go with the 1.4TC at some point and try it on my 1Div when not out looking for Barn Owls.
