There are threads here for commercial aircraft and military aircraft, but there isn't a broad thread for general aviation photos. This is a thread where we can share photos of the little guys. The ones used for flight training, recreational aviation, joy-rides, $100 hamburgers, etc. Let's see what you've got.

Edit for clarification due to some confusion on page three of this thread:

Wikipedia wrote:
General aviation (GA) is the term for all civil aviation operations other than scheduled air services and non-scheduled air transport operations for remuneration or hire.[1] General aviation flights range from gliders and powered parachutes to corporate business jet flights. The majority of the world's air traffic falls into this category, and most of the world's airports serve general aviation exclusively.[2]

General aviation covers a large range of activities, both commercial and non-commercial, including flying clubs, flight training, agricultural aviation, light aircraft manufacturing and maintenance.[3]

Great idea for a thread. I'll toss in a few to kick things off!

I've never seen one of the Cabin Wacos in person before. They look like beautiful aircraft, the open cockpit ones certainly are. The Globe Swift is another one of my favorites. Nice way to start the thread!

FedEx and UPS are General Aviation too :-) but the first post suggests smaller piston planes.

Very true. I was struggling to come up with a title for the thread because, as you note, "General Aviation" refers to all civil air operations that are not scheduled air services. This includes Gliders, Corporate Jets, Medevac, UPS, FedEx, Flight Training, Most Helicopter Ops, etc.

On the other hand, "Private Aviation" would eliminate flight schools and flight seeing operations. "Recreational Aviation" would eliminate people that use their 172/Mooney/Bonanza for travel purposes. "Light Aircraft" might suggest ultralights or light sport aircraft.

:-)

There have to be more of you photographing light aircraft. Here is Kaman's H-43 used for transitioning pilots to the K-MAX.

I thought I would start with some Pipers at what was originally known as Station 146 home of 448th Bombardment Group (Heavy), 20th Combat Bombardment Wing, Eighth Air Force, USAAF. It was one of several B24 bomber units to the south east of Norwich. Now known as Seething Airfield.

Both the RV7 and the RV9A were built by the pilot, he initially built and operates the larger RV 9A. He then went on an built the RV 7 for his wife.
