Hi!

After many failures this winter, yesterday I found a snowy owl in the dunes at Plum Island Massachusetts. Unfortunately the snowy was backlit so I did not get beautiful eyes but I enjoyed the adventure.

She was very tolerant in that she tolerated me singing to her and telling her how pretty she is without flying off in disgust.

Looks like she was sleeping....at least I hope that's what she was doing. Did she seem ok?

Great opportunity to get that close.

Hi,

She seemed to be resting! She was about 60 feet from a board walk that goes through the dunes to the ocean beach. I only stayed for about 10 minutes. In spite of my little joke about my singing I did not expect her to fly. I've often seen groups of photographers waiting a significant amount of time waiting for snowies to fly so I don't think it strange that she was staying put. As I was leaving another photographer showed up.

I like to think that she was doing her mid morning exercise/stretch routine. Also the tide was very low, in the area. I think they tend to hunt as the tide comes in and drives more critters into the open.

Glad you liked the pictures.

Jack
