Updated today, I think it may be fairly obvious.

For sure... and the Fluorine Bomb is a real menace to photographers on a global scale... Something has to be done...

My brother in laws birthday dinner at Cadillac bar at the Kema boardwalk in Kemah Texas. Wife was taking photos and I put the hat on and popped the two thumbs up. Just about it. no alcohol was involved... in fact I was drinking Dr. Pepper :)

Sitting on the deck enjoying a summer day next to one of the plants the wife had arranged along the edges. Our then four year old granddaughter spotted a tree frog on one of the plants. When deciding what image to use on business cards that were being printed the family chose "her" frog. The use "her" frog also became the avatar whenever needed.

Don't even begin to think I'm criticizing your images.
Just a natural curiosity.

Huli wigman, on a trip to the highlands of Papua New Guinea - the avatar is almost a full size image from my D30 (!) - huge pixels great colour, very forgiving of bad glass, although the 28-135 IS was pretty good for a 1st gen IS system.

Cool!

So ........ what about the new avatar? Would love to hear the story behind it, and/or the reason for changing it.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Mine is a photo of a painting of me that my wife commissioned ... based on a photograph that she took using my camera (oh, and my settings).

I lost her and she won't be coming back ... but I like my Avatar ... it reminds me of her and it reminds everyone else that I have a thing about hats.
