If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

So...stayed up late last night (a little after midnight) and saw the moon shining through the window. I took my new 7d ii, and put on the 1.4 extender and 100-400 to take some moon shots before the impending Tuesday nor'easter. Shot at 560 mm with the extender.

We drove by it but didn't stop. We were a bit limited on time and wanted to do Rentenaar Road. Looked like there was quite a bit of activity at the rookery!

This guy still bolts the instant he can; I need to leave the camera in better settings for when he shows up.

Oh, and this is my first with the big lens!

Well...ever since getting a 7D ii to compliment my 100-400, the weather hasn't been conducive to any outdoor shooting. Now, its blizzard time! I took this shot out of total boredom through my kitchen window when i couldn't get to my camera to shoot a flock of birds that stopped briefly near an outside arbor. Obviously no one is home at this house!!

It was one of my best BIF successes.

(-2,0,0) for the Case setting, large zone AF. AI Servo 1st image and 2nd image priorities set to prioritize focus over speed. I rediscovered the merits large zone AF that morning.
