As a prior US Navy sailor, I agree. There are some weird things out there that that are purely for function. The stealth boats are definitely a prime example where the geometric surface area helps deflect radar signatures. Though it would be nice if we painted them like some of the other countries do with their versions:

Whenever we visit Bath ME, I always check out the docks at BIW from the US1 bridge as we cross the Kennebec. Last August was a bit of a bonanza as two of the stealth destroyers were fitting out, an Arleigh Burke class frigate was under construction in one dry dock (can just see the stern behind the bow of the Zumwalt), and another Arleigh Burke was tied up at the wharf. The last Zumwalt was also under construction in a closed dry dock.
