The 3rd one is my favourite :) Like the way the WB is cooler within the beam

I am with TRhoads, I prefer the Middle picture.

I also dislike the 'beams' in the photo

you still need it to find your way to your spot...and out...and I use mine to help with focus on foreground images like we did that night on Kure Beach...but for me, the light beam in the sky is a little overdone now, and I just don't like it personally...doesn't mean I am right, just my opinion...had a conversation recently with someone who hates the look of LE clouds, their opinion, and it isn't going to stop me from doing LE with clouds...in fact, I have been doing guest speaker presentations on my LE work, and it has been well received so far and I have 4 more bookings for it...

Just let an old man have a bit of humor! Hoping to have two nights of clear weather the week of the 27th for some very early morning MW in a very dark spot in Buckingham County, Va. This state park is doing all the right things as far as lighting in all the buildings and cabins for astro work and it's only about 83 miles from home. Scouted the area last week and one cabin has a perfect view from the back deck. Another view will have a pond for a foreground and maybe a nice reflection. BTW, I will have my flashlight and head torch with me.

First try at a milkyway shot, and very close to a streetlight! Moonrise behind the hills

OK what did I do wrong to get the "circles" in the image -- they are certainly not in the original -- something I did in resizing?

dunno, but I was about to ask what caused that...really weird...did you have some sort of layer that got blended on to it...almost looks like a radial blur of a grid or checkerboard.

OK my error in that there is the same problem in the original - but very faint, had to really blow it up to see it - so it a) must have been something I did in the original processing or that lens, and b) made worse by the resizing.

Back to the workflow I guess :(

Honestly I kind of like the circles, they look cool with the dish in the picture. I'm also curious to know what cause them.
