Uploaded a couple more to my Flickr @ 12800. One from 1DMkIV and one from 70D. Didn't really have anything over 3200 from the 7D.

Drove an hour away for some nice lake shore sunset photos. But the clouds closed in and blocked all the colorful light. So I had to settle for this...

Pigpen, I shoot youth sports. If you'd like, i can send you some unedited RAW files shot at high ISO. I've got nighttime flag football on a poorly lit field, ISO all the way up to 12,800, and basketball up to around 6400. I print on 4x6 to sell to parents and find that noise isn't really an issue for them.

If you want samples, just pm me and I'll get them to you in a day or so.

Fair point. However 640 is prettty damn good on the 80D. 3200....depends on personal taste. To me it walks the line on being to noisy. If only just.

Yes, indeed. I routinely shoot at 500 or 640 with the 80D to get a high shutter speed with the 100-400 and 1.4 converter, with little or no discernible noise. Couldn't have done that with the 70D, if I remember correctly. Haven't found the need for 3200 yet, I must say, but the ISO 3200 and higher ISO images posted in this thread are impressive and have prompted me not to be so worried about upping the ISO, I must say. Think we're all agreed the 80D is a smashing camera.

I've been using Canon digital since the 90's and the 80D is one of the best all-around bodies they've made in my opinion. I also have a 5DSr and a 1Dx but I find myself grabbing the 80D more and more. I love the articulating screen on the back as it is hard for me to always get in the position I need for the composition. And I think the IQ is very acceptable.

This was a quick shot in a auto dealers showroom and I am quite happy with it...

Thank you for the offer, but it won't allow me yet because I'm a newbie. I must have 20+ posts before I'm allowed to PM some one.
The images crbinson posted look pretty good (not sure shot with 80D, though). My 7D is pretty bad above 2500, at least for my tastes. I really only need decent noise & 6400, maybe 12,800. 6400 seems to be the # my camera wants to go to in most of the situations I am in with ISO set on auto, other than that I shoot everything else manual. Of course you can't have too fast of shutter speed so 12,800 capabilities would be nice. Maybe you can PM me. They could be JPEGS & that would be fine as that is what I usually shoot to keep my buffer at bay.

Thanks

I really wouldn't call this "settling". I love long exposure w/ water.

The two B-ball photos posted above were taken with the 80D / 70-200II. If you look at my Flickr the F-ball was with 1DMkIV / 70-200II+1.4x and the equestrian was with 70D / 70-200Ii. All @12800 JPEG no post processing.

Nice day, broken leg mending, so I got out in the garden this morning. Sunny and bright, so only needed ISO 320.

I'll PM you with my email address. Glad JPEG will work, because now that I think about it, I believe all of those shots were JPEG. I normally shoot only RAW, but I take so many shots of the league (20,000 for basketball), I've switched to just JPEG for them.

I am so impressed by the 80D that I dont use my 6D anymore except for wide field landscape(dont want the crop factor) and dark indoor shooting. Great camera, excellent raw files!
