Put a hat on and don't worry about expression. ;-)a Going through the closet and thrift store for vaguely 50s clothes. I think I need to stuff the shoulders a bit, those outlines were pretty cut...

Both terrific shots. Very well lit and beautifully set up. I especially like no.2.

Disclosure ... I am a sucker for hats.

Hey, thanks! I have grander environmental plans with this lighting, but it's a bit hard setting up, especially when one has to keep running between camera and pose spot to see how everything looks.

Shooting at f/1.2 with a 600Ws strobe at 1/8, 6 stop ND filter fitted & camera just grabbed focus like normal. Checking out new firmware, eye detection working well so.

Fuji X-PRO2 56mm f/1.2 @1.2 1/250 ISO200

I think it's really well shot with excellent lighting. There seems to be really strong eye contact which gives a good sense of engagement. Maybe you could have cropped tighter at the top (there's a lot of black space there). It would also be interesting to see how the image would look if you had positioned your subject more off-centre. It might have introduced extra dynamism/tension.

I'm not 100% comfortable with the pose. Partly, I think those 'the thinker' poses always seem a bit contrived. In this case, I also can't get it out of my head that you have just landed a punch.

But it's a very good self-portrait. (It's easy to be a critic ... much harder to make a picture).

That's exactly what I think, BOF!! It didn't make the cut in the end, went for a much more simple shot with no fists. Thanks for your feedback.

Now that is a beauty shot. :-) Maybe a smidge red (at least on my monitor), but I think excellent!

Still working on drama lighting. Now, this shot would be where the hard ridge of my cheekbone popped out... if I had any. C'est la vie. No bars this time!
