Oh, all those pics look so good, I see that high ISO is not making so much noise, and this inspires to get a newer camera, as mine is weak over 1600. you guys are such an inspiration, thank you for great looking posts!

I think the criteria for this thread needs to be updated, or maybe a new thread all together would make more sense. Does anybody really consider ISO 3200 to be "high" anymore?

Perhaps a new thread is needed. ISO 3200 isn't high. Otoh, ISO 25,600 is high. That's difficult to do well, and noise reduction is certainly a challenge.

Exactly. I assume the purpose of this thread is to show equipment performing at/near its limit. A 5D with a clean final JPEG at 3200 might be impressive, but even a 5D2 can provide good results without much post-processing.

I think I'm going to go through my Lightroom catalog and find something at least ISO 12,800 and make a new thread.

Why though? Why not just continue this one? There are pages of shots at very high ISOs in this thread, I've posted several above ISO 100k.

I don't get thinning out the follow base due to some pedantic detail.

EDIT: Not to mention, I forgot that this thread already exists...

I looked through my LR catalog and find plenty of photos taken with a T2i at 3200 that cleaned-up fine in LR, some that even needed to be pushed a stop and/or cropped significantly. Even 6400, if properly exposed, turned out well from the T2i. On the 70D and 80D the situation is even better, with 12800 and 16000 yielding very usable images.

I would tend to agree that ISO 3200 isn't really that special anymore. But three years from now, how special will ISO 12800 be, in light of improving sensor technology? I'm already seeing outstanding images shot at 51200 from the 5D3 and 5D4, as well as Sony and Nikon. Even my 80D, with some PP cleanup, can produce a reasonable image at 25600.

Maybe the thing to do is to start two new threads: High ISO (12800+) and High ISO (51200+), then rename this thread to High ISO (3200+) for posterity? In the future, additional High ISO threads can be added as technology advances.

For 12,800 and higher, you could post your examples here

I really don't get why we need so many threads about basically the same topic.
