My combo works fine (7d-70-200 EX DG OS HSM), as does the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8

EOS 6d, 7dMKII, Tokina 11-16, Tokina 16-28, Sigma 70-200mm F/2.8, Sigma 17-50 F/2.8, Canon 24-70mm F/2.8L, Canon 70-200 F/2.8L, Mixed Speedlites and other stuff.

When it ceases to be fun, it will be time to walk away

I have / have had several Canon EOS bodies (including my current 7D and 5D Mark II) and have had no trouble with my •Σ 70-200mm 1:2.8 APO EX DG OS HSM lens (latest design). It is as sharp as a tack and super fast. In fact, I returned my Canon 70-200 2.8/L IS MK II and saved over $1K. Have not looked back since!

I feel better now, I just ordered the Sigma 70-200/2.8 APO EX DG OS HSM to be used with my 5D mark II. I hope it will be just fine.

It's not a photo until you print it!

The issues were strictly with the older (pre-OS) models of the Sigma 70-200. The OS variant was released in 10/11, and guaranteed compatible with 7Ds.

I think this is about the older Sigma lens. I have the newest one with OS and it works fine with 7D!

Many years ago when I switched from 35mm film to ditgital my sigma 70-300 mm wouldn't work. I call sigma about having it rechipped. I was told they couldn't rechip it because they didn't have any more chips, but if I sent it in for a. trade I would get a discount on a replacement. The price they quoted was the same as B&H was selling it for with no trade. Good luck,

I purchased the sigma 15mm f2.8 fisheye, non-dg version off ebay and encountered the same issue. I contacted sigma regarding a re-chip, and they told me it was an internet myth that they do those. Ended up sending the lens back but found the dg version for the same price.

internet myth or no, my old 14mm f/3.5 sigma that works on digital bodies...at least on my rebel (1.6), 1D mk2 (1.3), and classic 5D (1.0)....would imply otherwise. Every other version I've seen in person or referenced on sites like POTN have only worked wide open.....mine can be stopped down.

Does this really need to be a sticky anymore?

My entire hobby of gear lust has temporarily been shifted into overload. Please be patient while my mind tries to get back onto the road to recovery. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause....
