For some reason, the male belted kingfishers here are very stand-offish and rarely will they allow photos. The females on the other hand are pretty willing. Yesterday afternoon, this male had a change of heart.

Good for you, Ian. I have yet to see one this year, but it's 24F and snowing here this morning so maybe they're still in Florida.

Thanks Al, and Yikes, isn't it spring yet? We've had some cold weather too but it's promising to warm up soon. Some of these kingfishers actually stay all winter here wherever they can find open water.

The only decent images I got of a BKF was of a female so maybe you're onto something. Nice of him so sit a little bit for you...bonus is with a fish.
