This morning's SpaceX from the front porch. 130 mile to the south of me, using just 200mm. :-)

Curious whether any of the rocket's sound travels the 130 miles?

No. There's no sound and I can just make out the flame. It's much easier to see at night.

This weekend we kept some of my grandkids for four days while my son and daughter-in-law went on a cruise. This caused me to miss the final home softball games and the Lake Charles Airshow (which I was dying to shoot) but I didn't have a choice. So what else was there to do but to shoot some grandkid photos. Here are several. Nothing great.

Well, I haven't posted any pictures here in months. Went out this evening after supper: saw 6 ducks, 8 geese and a couple of dozen gulls. I finally might have something to take a picture of besides a snow covered landscape. The local spring migration should be in full swing in a couple of weeks. The water fowl, for the most part, only stay around town for a short period of time before scattering to their time honoured nesting places. Time to blow the dust off the tripod.

Taking pictures without gloves on. What a concept!

I like the winter better Rod,.. way better. around here I'm to close to Toronto.. only a few hours and the population of fast cars... dead animals and ding-o-lings increase 100 fold. so give me -30c -40c all day long. except for the loons... loons are cool

Very nice shot. I've got a while yet before I see a loon. In the same time frame as everything else - a couple of weeks. One close = a lot longer. A coworker said he saw an eagle today. Wondering now if maybe/hopefully it is the one with nest just down the road. Gonna keep fingers crossed and keep a close eye on that big tree. Catching a wee one in the nest would be cool but unlikely considering where I think the nest is. To be honest I have no idea if the nest is in the tree or not. A big tamarack aka juniper. The eagle spends a lot of time in the area around that tree. Last year, part way down the tree was full of feathers so maybe.
