It looks like you and I both need long f2.8 glass to create more background isolation.

A few pictures taken yesterday morning with my 7D2 and 150-600mm C. The baby chipmunk stayed right around the burrow the entire time it was out, and mom was running circles around it keeping an eye out so I had to shoot this one through the sliding glass door, which didn't seem to detract too much from the result.

reach over f stop when possible
