Not my best, but my most recent from the MotoGP weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas last weekend. #42 Francesco Bagnaia entering Turn 20 during Saturday morning practice.

Now that spring is finally here in my country I started to practice panning again. Currently about a 10% success rate when trying 1/60.

I couldn't make up my mind between these two regarding a "best" panning shot. They were both taken at the 1986 IMSA race at Riverside International Raceway. Canon F-1, Fujichrome 100. The March was taken with a Tamron Sp 60-300mm and the Porsche was taken with a Canon FD 200mm f/2.8 IF.

March 83G. This is not a crop. A lucky shot, the car rocketed by my location at over 200 mph. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

Porsche 962. This is the slightly sharper of the two images, but it was not as big of a challenge because the car was traveling slower and the framing wasn't as tight. The wheel blur is better defined in this image as well.

Tried doing some more low speed pans from behind the track marshalls at a flag point. Not sure what the general consensus is on shots like these, but I rather like them.

A quarter of a second is pretty damn good. The orange of the high vis clothing streaking through the image gives it a "different" look. Not necessarily worse but for a viewer who is not interested in the technicalities of the shot (pretty much anyone you might think of as a potential customer) it doesn't make the shot any more appealing either

I have the same experience. Only some customers appreciate a photo which is more kind of artistic, many prefer tack sharp frozen pics even if the subject is moving.
