Ahhhhh the beauty of this new 1Dx2 and 5D4 sensors

Going to post a couple of images here. yesterday I was shooting this shot Natural light and clouds were going in/out and creating bad shadows. The area in the lower left was completely dark and very little detail. So I turned on my ab600, shot it bare bulb as was able to get some detail in the area but still,in general, just a crapola exposure.

The beauty of the new canon sensor for the 5D4 and the 1Dx2. I knew I could shoot for highlights and take my chances in post with darks in shadows.

I pushed darks and shadows by about 4 stops and was able to fix this right in LR w/o any any loss of IQ and loss of detail in shadows and darks.

Where the new technology really comes in handy is in darker situations and in really bad contrast light like this shot. So This is what makes the 5D4 and the 1Dx2 sensor such a good reason to upgrade from a 5D2 and 5D3......5D2 Cant do this. 5D3 is a push at best

Here is the before and after with the new sensor. all done in LR...about 2-4 mins to save

This is now just a proof file that my client can make a decision about. I can make this pop on a final edit if they choose it. So glad Canon has a great sensor for us to work with

The new sensor allows you to shoot for the highlights which cant be recovered and allows you to push the darks and shadows which dont break down.

Prefer the first image to be honest. The second has had too much processing.

So you shot for exposure on the couple, right?

Two new videos from me, I used the Sigma 12-24 ART on the Music Video and the 400 prime on the Car Video. Sigma has awful color fringing which lead me to sell it.

I was born in Scotland, moved to Canada when I was 2, but I can honestly say, when I see pictures like this, northern Scotland has some of the most beautiful places on earth.

Thanks for posting.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.
