Not disposable, no. Like with a roll of film, you put in the canister, and pull the film across and slide it into the holder. Though probably not possible, it would be really cool if you could put in a digital sensor that would stay in behind the lens. Include a canister just so that it would stay still, but instead of film being exposed and then moved, just have a digital sensor sitting there. I highly doubt it's physically possible, but man that would be cool.
I am sorry, Scott, but I still don't understand.
What you describe - "a digital sensor that would stay in behind the lens" - isn't that what we already have on DSLRs?
Only the DSLR design is even better because the sensor is securely mounted to the camera body in a permanent fashion - we don't have to mess with sliding it around or having a separate canister next to it just to hold it in place. The sensors are already held in place in a perfectly secure fashion.
I am sorry for not "getting it", but I still don't understand how your idea would be better than what we already have. In fact, it seems to me like you are taking what we already have and making it worse, instead of improving it. I don't mean that in a mean-spirited way, but that is how your idea comes across.....like a de-evolution, of sorts.
If you care to explain further, I would be glad to read more about your idea. I would like to fully understand what it is that you are proposing.
