Wondering about the left wing of this guy. Seems to be missing quite a few feathers, but does seem to fly no problem. The other wing looks like it is fine. Could this be from molting and they will just regrow in time? His/her mate doesn't seem to have any feathers missing though.

Looks like a female. Usually the female osprey have that dark "necklace" across their breast. Usually the females molt while incubating as the males do most of the hunting.

Great capture, but I would like to staple a tag on the guy's forehead that put that on the leading edge of this little guys wing-?

Itsed65 thank you for that information. I didn't know about the necklace on the females. Sounds like she'll be fine then. I'm glad, as there aren't too many Osprey near me.

We were in Utah last week and generally exploring the lesser known features.
One place we camped was in the Fishlake Nat. Forest. I never would have expected
to see an Avocet at 8000 feet this far inland-
