Yes please...I think this is important. Having an all-in-one Sony thread is fantastic, but it would be a "good citizen" thing to do to always list the camera and lens used (which can be done via the POTN EXIF tag or just stating it).

Howdy folks! Headed out to a very scenic area for the weekend. Hopefully I can come back with something worthy to share.

In the meantime we had some cute little visitors in our backyard last night.

We have the same female nesting in our backyard two years in a row. I always see the eggs after theyve hatched but never seen the babies is walking around in our yard. We have a canal full of ducks just outside our fence. Lots of ducklings in the spring! Don't usually see them just cruising around the yard though! ;-)a

Got the a9 today (the rental one...the one I bought gets here Monday).

It's definitely a faster, more responsive camera. I don't have the giddy new toy feeling from it though. I played with if for about an hour just now. Outside of 20fps its pretty much an incremental improvement over the a7rII. Don't get me wrong it improves in all the areas it needs to and the culmination of the incremental improvements make it a nice upgrade from the a7rII (not in resolution of course), but this is definitely more of a tool to get a job done than a toy....I got it because better AF, faster operation, and dual slots are a big deal for weddings and events, but those are definitely more of a "need" than a "want".

I'm home alone with the a9 though...my feelings will probably change when the kids get home and I really put it through its paces. When I had the a6500, the a7rII felt so sluggish next to it when photographing my kids and I found myself enjoying the a6500 more than the a7rII.

I also got the rx1rII back today and am feeling apprehensive to sell it because its such a cool little camera. I feel like I'm selling my sports car to buy a mini-van lol. I snagged an rx1 MKI for a really good price on ebay today though. Hopefully it will serve just as well for documenting the family....the rx1rII was overkill for that anyway, but I did like having eye focus on tap.

Overall, I still feel I made the right choice. The a9 is the perfect compliment to the a7rII....I needed a second body and while there are cheaper options (like a second a7rII), there's a synergy between having these two cameras on tap because they cover each others weaknesses. In many ways that's better than a single "jack of all trades" camera, because of course, those types of cameras are "master of none".

Last piece of the puzzle for me is scoring an FE 35 1.4. I need something to replace the 24-70GM and RX1rII as my normal focal length solutions.

With the latest firmware, you can't move the AF points now with the shutter and aperture wheels. Have you notice or i'm missing something?

Pic from todays shoot ..
so normally , I do basic edits in LR (exposure / highlights / etc) and then take it to PS for more detailed editing..
so I liked the picture below.. although hand placement probably wasn't ideal as her hand was pretty bright... and so in LR I made an adjustment to hand and arm..
as I'm in PS I realize I missed quite a big spot on the inside of her hand/arm(right side of her thumb and down) .. well by this time I already spent a good 20 minutes in PS working on other aspects of the pic..
Any one know if there is a way to correct it in LR (since that's where it was originally done with an adjustment brush) and have it carry over to PS ? ( I used the "edit photo in " option thru LR)
or am I basically going to have to redo the whole thing ?

^ Use Adobe Camera RAW while in PS. You have access to all of the same LR features. No going back to LR until you're ready.

A few from my niece's graduation from pharmacy school:

In Photoshop, you can go to "Filter>Camera Raw Filter" and reopen the file back in ACR. While you won't be working on the raw image, you'll have access to all the ACR adjustments such as "exposure", "shadows", and "highlights".
