Actually looks like a great body for photographers and part-time family movie makers. I am betting, as with the 6D vs 5D3, that the noise and overall IQ is a touch better than the 5D4. At half the price of the 5D4 at release I would be willing to lose 4K and a few focus points if my main focus was photos. Having a flippy screen is useful too, despite my reservations, one thing I miss from my Sony body.

I've already preordered mine. $2499 AUD with a second Canon battery free. They told me it will be available here in Australia on the 27th of July so I'm super excited, I've been waiting years for this!

At just past 3min in, he says Canon is making the claim that the 6d2 IS better than the 5d4 in low light

In my option this camera is a disappointment to be honest. And I currently use a 6D so I should know about it :)

And here the reasons why.

Despite the fact it lacks 4K (which to me isn't that important) but as the market seems to have everything 4k at the moment then yes leaving it out is a risky move. They could have had it 4k in a compressed format and made that format be average at best. (but it would still have been 4K and suitable for youtube) They should have released 5Dmk4 with 4k with all the format serious videographers needs.

USB connector that's 15+ years old, at least usb3 or usb type c (at usb 3 speeds)

one good feature, 45 focus points but these are focus points that are designed for a crop sensor so there's no point in having them in a FF camera. So it's a focus system from a camera released in Feb 2016. Which means that either the 90D will have the same AF as the 80D (so that means the 90D wouldn't be that much of upgrade)

Bluetooth, really? I don't get that.

Could upgrade wifi (upgraded chip to 802.11ac perhaps) but no biggie

Dual card slots, yes, the cheapest Nikon D610 has got dual card slots. or at least upgrade the card slot UHS speed 3 so so you get fast transfer speeds.

There are features on here that are out of date, this should have been the 6D that should have been released 18months ago. Since perception is reality then it seems that this camera has caught up to what everyone else has done last year. So when the likes of Nikon release their replacements, this camera is going to look even older.

The main reason why I wouldn't upgrade this camera from the 5 year old 6D that I am currently using is that this camera is already looks old. If I can going to spend my hard earned cash then I want it to look updated. it doesn't have to be revolutionary but it does have to look modern. Modern in an age where the change of tech happens quickly

So over the 80d , it has the bigger sensor, internal image stabilization, and 4k movie timelapse ..
And the time lapse thing is more of a extra than a major feature in my opinion.. and im someone whos been gettingmore into time lapse .
I assume with IS feature some sort of crop wouls happen ?

As expected no 4k.

Is it just me or does it seem a bit overpriced?
I mean for someone who was shooting the original 6d all this time its a nice upgrade.. but in the whole picture , it does seem just a bit overpriced to me ..

I might preorder

I've been waiting to see what happened here as I shoot primarily with a 6D. The AF was the biggest crutch to the 6D so it's no surprise that got an upgrade. The only major points for me are the AF and rotating display but I think I'd rather pick up a used 5d mk3 for around $400 cheaper and have dual card slots and better AF.

Wonder how many if any of the 45 focus points are able to focus at F8?
Sounds like a real improvement to my 6D.

They had nowhere to go but up after crippling the first version so badly in that dept.

I think it high now to milk the early adopters as Canon has always done. Around xmas I would think that the price will settle in somewhere around $1699~$1799 which seems more reasonable.

The 4K time lapse was not rumored. Wonder if a firmware upgrade in the future will bring 4K to at 30fps?

When it comes to the specs I'm really happy with them. The only things that disappoint me are

- 1/180th sync speed
- Max shutter of 1/8000th

And that's pretty much it. I'm more disappointed about the max shutter than the sync speed though. Dual SD cards would have been nice but not essential for me.

The AF upgrade is huge for me and couldn't be happier. The spread is a bit tight for the points but it's quite normal for full frame bodies and Dual Pixel AF would work better for the outer areas anywhere. I've been using my M5 for months and when it comes to composing closer to the edge of the frame or if the DOF is razor thin I would prefer to use DPAF anyway. No 4k video really doesn't matter too, if other branded cameras have it then people should go use them so they can stop complaining and be happy :p

BTW, both...
- 1/250 sync speed
- Max shutter of 1/8000
are currently available on the 80D

From what I've read it's more easily achievable on a crop sensor as there is less distance for the shutter to travel compared to a full frame sensor (I have no knowledge of this, I'm just paraphrasing what I've read on Canon Rumors). Either way I love the specs so far and I'm really excited to get my hands on it.

Does anyone know if the 6D2 is confirmed to have On-sensor ADC?

Read this on DPR which was posted by another member there:

"Just read an article about the 6DII on the Swedish site Fotosidan, there are a couple of things new to me in it. Canon explain that 4K would generate so much heat that it would require extra cooling , thus extra cost and size, and that’s why we don’t get 4K, and they don’t think the demand for 4K is big enough. "

This sounds like corporate-BS justifying dumbing down the camera so it doesn't card into 5DIV sales. There are plenty (external link) of DSLRs that do 4k without catching fire. Heck, there are now well over 60 phones that do 4k as well as a number of P/S cameras. These days it makes no sense not to include it.
