Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is Signs of the Season. As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

For us here in the Northern Hemisphere, it's Summer! For those in the Southern Hemisphere it is Winter! Show us your Season!

Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between Monday Sunset and the following Monday by Sunset (Whenever that is for you ). Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e. embedding them) but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES
That's it! Have fun! As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK INDEX

That's it!
Have fun!

Given all the rain we've had to date our community gardens are doing well. This is one of three in town.

In California a sure sign of the summer season is the grass on the hillsides turning yellow and drying out.

Another sign is the holiday getaway traffic jam. :-(

A couple of literal signs. This first one is clearly seasonal.

The second one isn't so obviously seasonal, but home sales do occur more often in summer.

Sadly, this is a common sign of summer in my state. One of 28 classified as "active" it just started Friday morning, and as of Sat early afternoon it was up to 1200 acres.

3600 acres Sunday morning update

Kevin - love the fireworks. Happy Canada Day.

Tim - hillside sure looks familiar, that's what it looks like in parts of southern Arizona for about 10-11 months of the year. It only greens up some after the summer monsoons.

This afternoon the fire season got a bit too close to home.

First this CalFire tanker flying low over the house.

Then this less than 1/2 mile up the mountain.

Definitely a sign of summer in your neighborhood Tim. Nice captures of the tanker. Hopefully your fire season will not be to severe or long.

Thanks, it is always a concern when things dry out. I've been busy establishing a defensible fire perimeter around the place. Fire season here normally lasts well into October.
