Found a sleepy friend this morning at the Alligator Farm. Today was the last early entry for this year.

So sad..

Looks like someone in that photo has not shot much before... :) Head turned and butt of the rifle not even packed in tight when firing. Nice photo though.

The guy with his head turned is probably doing so because of the way flintlocks work. If you stand too close to another person firing a flintlock there is fire coming out of the hole that goes from the flash pan to the barrel. That fire sprays straight to the side of the gun and is quite substantial. Getting in the way of that secondary power spray is mistake you only want to make once.

Sorry for the delayed response... in the mountains, no signal for a while...

From that distance I think you will have some softness to the batter and catcher. Try shooting the batter from the dugout area. I usually shoot just to the far side of the dugout. The sensor can grab more detail that way. Try different spots from different distances. You will find what works for your taste - sharp detail versus how much you can capture. Your photos are getting better and better - keep shooting and sharing. And check out threads that show sports photos you like. I learned tons so far asking those photogs how they got their shots.
