Think that's more likely 6K05 Carlisle to Crewe DRS working through Hellwith Bridge if I'm not mistaken.

NS (Norfolk Southern) engines look far dirtier than the BNSF engines do to me anyway.

And then there is Canadian national. I was out one day shooting and a cn train goes by had a matte finish and a broken out front window. Ugly, ugly ass engines.

I did however shoot a ns engine pulling out of a railyard in new carlise that looked new. Looked up some info and found out its not at all new. Maybe it was just the lighting but it looked clean!

Heres a clean BNSF engine!

Im sure ive posted both in this thread before. I have a shot of that ugly cn engine, ill post it later

A lovely summer morning greeted the worlds most famous steam locomotive, "Flying Scotsman" as it hauled "The Waverley" from York to Carlisle and back,
unfortunately that put paid to any decent exhaust.
However mustn't grumble as we don't exactly have too much sun here in the UK.
Incidentally the village in the background (Barkston Ash) has some interesting history.
According to local folklore, an ash tree that stands in the village gives it its name and marks the centre of Yorkshire – although the actual centre is closer to Hessay. Legend has it that anyone who spits at the tree will be struck by lightning a year and a day later, and an apocryphal figure, known as Jack Foll, is supposed to have suffered this fate.

As I said, ugly ass engine. Hell the window isn't just broken out, it's got jagged pieces sticking out of the frame. WTF? Maintain your equipment, at least a little bit!

That is very sad the company feels it can't (or won't) repair engines when needed. Their crews need the windows fixed for their safety for crying out loud.

Looks like it might be on the tail end of the train, perhaps being dragged deadhead on the way to the Maintenance Depot. I don't see a crew in there. In the USA, operating that engine would be illegal.

Ditch lights are on which means it is in lead. Looks like there is crew inside. Most likely was being used as a local or switcher. Could be bad part of town and window was broken out by vandals. Sometimes the freight just has to move, extra AC via broken window won't hurt. :)
