Obi we now have 17 mFT lenses at the house and I've yet not to like one. They are all good, some are great, and a couple are just fantastic.
For walk around do everything zoom my favorite is the 14-140ii. It's compromised like all super zooms and I keep it on the GM5 when hiking/backpacking
for the ultimate in weight savings and focal range. I don't have the 14-42mm but it can't be bad. If you know you don't need 2.8 look at the 12-32mm, so light
and small.

Cheap 40-150? Thats a $600 lens and its quite good, as is the 14-140 you have. What lens do you want that you can't get on m43? As far as adapters. If you want full electronic control, you'll have to pay $399 for the Metabones adapter. There are much cheaper options if you don't mind manual focus and controls.

Just got my GX7 from adorama's used department for $450. Paired it with a 20 f1.7. So far I'm loving it! Intended to keep my 7D for longer lenses, and the gx7 for travel/walking around camera. With wife and kid walking around cities, going to the beach/camping etc.

I'm new to 4/3. What are lens recommendations for such use? I like the 20 mm, but thinking a zoom might be nice for convenience. For example recently was in Munich and the 7D with 17-50 2.8 felt cumbersome. Would the oly kit lens (14-42mm f3.5-5.6 I think) be a good choice? I'm wondering how much I'd miss f2.8.. The pancake lenses are attractive to keep the kit small. I feel putting a 2.8 there defeats the purpose of getting this camera..

The PL25 is a great lens if you need/use the 50mm focal length, though a bit expensive. The Olympus 25mm is almost as good and a bit cheaper. If you want to get a 'normal' 35mm FL, then the Olympus 17mm f1.8 is great. Since the GX7 has IBIS, don't discount the olympus lenses.

I personally use a PL15 (somewhat wide angle), PL25 and Panasonic 42.5/1.7 (portraits) for my primes and a 12-32 kit lens for the 12mm wide angle.

That Oly "kit" lens would work well but the new Panasonic Lumix 14-42 would be a tad better. Nothing that would hit you between the eyes but with the Panasonic's "communication" and processing between lens and camera I think you'd be a bit better off. You might watch the for sale forum on mu-43.com, I picked up one for $100 recently.

With the 20mm f1.7 occupying a small corner of your bag, I don't think you'd miss f2.8 a bit. I don't.
