I was really lucky to have caught this exchange yesterday. A Great Blue Heron and an Anhinga were sitting on the same branch. (sounds like the beginning of a bad joke...right?) So the Blue decides that the Anhinga needs to get off of HIS branch and they start squabbling. The Blue started moving toward the Anhinga making lots of noise and in fact stabbing at him with his beak. The Anhinga, thinking he's a little tough guy, refuses to move and starts squawking back. I love the way the Blue blows himself up to look more threatening. After a few very near misses by the Blue's knife beak, Mr. Anhinga decides that discretion is the better part of valor and decides to get while the gettin's good.
