A couple more with the 6D. Rainy here all day.

Excellent captures. Love the clarity and bokeh.

Nice and sharp! Man, I need to just get the Canon 100-400 out of my mind and go for this. The price is right.

Thanks, fellows. I bought this for use on my Canon 6D. I have the 150-600 C that I use with tripod on my 70D. I think this will be a great pair for birding and wildlife. Extremely pleased thus far.

biggles2002: I see you have the 80D like myself. Does the Sigma 100-400 lens focus with absolute accurately using DPAF in liveview mode?
My 150-600C does, but my sigma 18-35 f/1.8 doesn't, and it's a known firmware issue apparently. It always misses the mark very slightly with DPAF, but works correctly with contrast detect cameras in liveview e.g. 600D. I don't need to use DPAF very often, but it's a PITA with the 80D until Sigma sort their firmware, hence my interest in any DPAF experiences with this 100-400 lens.

I have used DPAF with the Sigma just a few times and I can't say more than it has worked fine for those times.
I'm using latest FW for the lens.

Here are 2 screendumps from Canons DPP software with focus box visible.

Brilliant, that looks good enough for me thanks. On the 18-35 it would be very noticable that focus was shifted from where it ought to be.

Read this review just now - am tempted to get this specifically for video production when I can't bring my 200-400 f/4 1.4x out, or when I'd rather have reach vs the 2.8 of a 70-200.

Those that own this lens and the 70-200 2.8 lenses - how do they compare in size?

It is a good deal lighter weight than a 70-200mm f/2.8, it is shorter when it is collapsed,. but longer when zoomed out all the way.

It's about the weight of the 70-300mm L

Thanks for the info! I met a photographer today that purchased it. Asked to hold it expecting the 70-200 weight and was pleasantly surprised that the Sigma weighed much less than that. Focus ring seems tight enough for video work too. I'm sold - will get it next time when I need to do more outdoor work.
