How did you light this, if you don't mind my asking? This is truly incredible!

The setup was fairly simple. I actually did it in my small living room that measures about 9' x 9'. Here's some info and a diagram (sorry I didn't take a behind-the-scenes shot):

• Black backdrop. It's a cheap fabric one, not a nice muslin like in the studio. Just what I had on hand, hanging over a window.
• Kid standing about 2' in front of it.
• One strobe in a 2x3 softbox positioned camera left. Space was very tight in the room!
• Canon 5D MK IV camera, handheld so I could move around and try some different frames.
• For the sweat on his face, I used some glycerine mixed with water in a spray bottle. Covered his eyes and sprayed some on.
• Room lights very dim or off, I can't remember the strobe settings (but I can find them if you really want to know)

This was a very informal thing - my kid's friend just happened to stop by with his lacrosse gear and I didn't spend that much time on it. If I were to do it again and be more particular, here are some things I would do differently:

- Use my 3' Octabox instead of a 2x3 for a round catchlight in the eyes
- Spray on the "sweat" in a way that looks more natural and maybe add some dirt beforehand
- A bit more shadow on the face and neck for a little more drama
- Probably 100 more things now that I look at it... ! (I think we all suffer from this)

I hope this helps!

I'd recommend a hair/rim light as well. Thanks for sharing.
