Looks like the Monarch butterflies are out in force. Got another dozen or so running amuck.

Just upgraded to this lens after 12 years of using the basic EF 100 macro. Reason was, I have been going out in the field for more hand-held shots, and was appreciating the IS would be an advantage. First couple of results...

Excellent shots, especially the first!

Recently I've been trying natural light macro too. It is not easy, especially when there is a bit of a breeze. Often the sun is in the wrong place, and it is easy to block the light in tighter macros. But sometimes the results are very nice.

I agree the IS is useful.

Hasselblad 500 C/M with 80mm/2.8 Zeiss Planar (trying to sell it); Pentax Spotmatic F with 28/3.5, 50/1.4, 50/1.8, 135/3.5; Canon digital gear
C&C always welcome.
Picture editing OK

It's a fabulous lens, not just for macro.

A tiny moth that looks like a bit of straw from a slight distance. I've been told it is a Diamondback Moth.
